The tides can turn quickly in college football. Only a few days ago it was thought that Paul Chryst was not a top candidate for the Pitt job now most media outlets, including JSOnline.com, are reporting that Chryst has accepted the head coaching position at Pitt. Chryst will coach his last game on January 2nd in the Rose Bowl.
This leaves a number of questions about 2012, including who jumps into the offensive coordinator job. Rumors run the gamut from outside hires to a number of internal hires including Joe Rudolph and Bob Bostad. One theory that makes some sense indicates Barry Alvarez pushed hard for Chryst and in turn Chryst has promised not to poach the staff too much thus allowing for a number of internal promotions.
Another outstanding issue is the possible transfer of Dayne Crist, it is believed with Chryst leaving Dayne will go to Kansas to eat cheeseburgers with Weis. That might be a short sided move given OSU's bowl ban and the general mess that is PSU, Wisconsin is primed for a championship run again in 2012. One thing is for sure the beginning of 2012 will be interesting.
